The Best Way to Eat a Kiwi? Experts Say You’ve Probably Been Doing It Wrong

There are some foods we just grow up eating a certain way and never question. Bananas get peeled. Oranges get sliced. Watermelon gets spit into the yard with the seeds flying everywhere in the summertime.

And kiwi?
Most of us cut it in half and scoop out the inside with a spoon.

But according to nutrition experts, the best way to eat a kiwi may actually surprise you.

You eat the skin too.

Yes… the fuzzy little outside that most people peel off and toss into the trash is apparently packed with nutrients. Experts say kiwi skin contains fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins that many people completely miss out on because they never eat it.

Now before you panic and imagine chewing on a tiny green Brillo pad, hear me out.

If you wash the kiwi really well, many people simply eat it whole like an apple. Others slice it thin so the skin texture is less noticeable. And some say golden kiwis are smoother, sweeter, and easier to eat with the skin on than the traditional green ones.

The funny thing is, once you know this, you start realizing how many foods we automatically prepare a certain way just because that’s how we’ve always seen it done.

It’s a little reminder that sometimes the good stuff is hiding in the parts we overlook.

Personally, I’m still deciding whether I’m fully committed to Team Eat-the-Skin or not. But I will admit… it’s kind of freeing to skip the peeling and just enjoy the fruit the way nature made it.

So now I have to ask:

Would you eat a kiwi with the skin on… or absolutely not?

Intentional living is a good thing!
